Our guided walking tours are available Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with flexible start times based on reservations. Please check our availability through our booking form or contact us directly through Facebook Messenger to schedule your tour.

Tours operate rain or shine; however, if severe weather creates unsafe conditions, tours may be canceled or rescheduled. Guests will be notified at least one hour before the scheduled tour time through text message, email, or Facebook Messenger.

We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, bringing a bottle of water, and carrying a camera or phone to capture Matewan’s historic landmarks along the easy half-mile walking route. To provide the best experience, we keep group sizes small. Private tours and larger group bookings are available upon request.

Chris Faine is the founder and guide of Historic Matewan Walking Tours. With a background in education and history, Chris is passionate about preserving and sharing the stories of Matewan’s historic past. His tours bring the town’s landmarks, people, and events to life through engaging storytelling and local research. 

• After booking your tour, an invoice will be emailed to the primary email address provided during registration.

• You will receive a text message requesting confirmation of your booking details and invoice recipient information.

• If you plan to pay with cash upon arrival, please let us know in advance. Your invoice will be marked as “Paid in Cash,” and payment can be completed at the beginning of your scheduled tour.

• The meeting location and tour details will be provided after your booking has been confirmed and the invoice has been sent.

• You may cancel your tour at any time. Prepaid reservations are eligible for a full refund. We kindly ask that you provide at least 12 hours’ notice before your scheduled tour whenever possible to help us better serve our guests.

• Guests are expected to help maintain a respectful, safe, and family-friendly environment throughout the tour experience. 

• Tours are $12 per person. Children under five are free. All are welcome.
